Dr Karen Hughes has recently been awarded a PhD (English) from the University of Newcastle for her creative thesis exploring spiritual themes in speculative fiction. She is the author of the Kalika Magic series, mother of four, and director of Hunter Valley Writers, as well as being a former lawyer and corporate writer. Through her work with children and her own spiritual journey, she has discovered that creativity is a vital tool for connection and healing.
