Join our weekly sessions for connection, inspiration and fun! We'll explore different writing styles, learn new tips and techniques, and complete short exercises designed to promote creative thinking.
Our new digital program consists of 10 weekly sessions, each based around a different theme. Each week, students will receive a link to the next module, where they can watch a new video presentation by Kalika Magic author Karen Hughes. Each presentation will be around 10-15 minutes in length and will cover a different aspect of Creative Writing.
The modules contain a variety of resources to support the learning intention, including novel excerpts, descriptive passages, writing exercises, and an online quiz.

Finding inspiration
Plotting and planning
Character development
Building fictional worlds
Voice and perspective
Language and grammar techniques
Exploring different genres
Kids become part of our exclusive online club and can message each other and Karen on the Discussion Board or by posting in the Clubhouse.
On completion of the video and the various activities each week, kids will be encouraged to take the Story Challenge and submit their stories for publication on the website and in our annual paperback anthology.
During the school holidays, Karen will run a special live Zoom session, giving every child personalised feedback on their stories. Our aim is that students will leave the program with improved writing skills, increased confidence, and an enduring love of language.
